The Loss of a Pet

The Loss of a Pet
The most important thing you can do to support children after the loss of a pet is to show empathy and never dismiss their feelings. Try to understand that the loss may feel even greater to a child, as they may not have ever known life without that pet being part of it. How you support their grief will help to form how they deal with death and losses of all kinds over the course of their lifetime.

Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do
Recently I had a phonecall from an unknown mobile number. Being an introvert (plus rarely having a free hand) I usually let these go to voicemail because well if it's important they will call back or leave a message. But on this occasion I answered only to be greeted with a trembling voice struggling to speak through tears. My initial assumption was that it was a client of my OT services frustrated by waiting times on equipment I had recommended to their funding body.....but it was so much better. It was a customer of Heartbeat Handicrafts who had just received their order of a custom keyring representing their beloved dog. The customer had called in tears of joy because they found the keyring was such a true likeness of their dog that it brought them joy, unlike the sadness they felt from some other memorial items they had collected.

Care Instructions for Polymer Clay Items
If you are looking to keep your wedding cufflinks as a memento from your big day and you have a tendency to loose control of your limbs after a few drinks, best to remove the cufflinks and ask a sensible relative to take care of them after the ceremony but before you let loose!!

2021 Review

Mother staring forlorn into the distance, holding newborn twins on her bare chest, on a hospital bed.

All together it was a pretty soul- destroying time and took s heavy toll on my mental health. On top of not even being able to care for myself, the weight of caring for an energetic toddler was just too much and I had to ask family to help, which isn’t something I find easy to do.
